Morning
spent in Saint Remy, to be acquainted with its wonderful historical
heritage*. You'll have the opportunity too of knowing the Hospice
Saint Paul of Mausole, a place where Vincent van Gogh spent
some time.
-
Free
time for lunch in the heart of the old town.
-
Winding
roads lined with pine-trees will lead us to the Baux de Provence
(listed as an historical monument).
This eagle-nest was much appreciated by historical figures such as
the Reine Jeanne, the Roi Rene, etc.
At Christmas Time, this well-kept village is full of visitors attracted
by a Provencal midnight mass.
From the top of this village, one can admire olive-tree plantations.
-
Before
nightfall, we'll stop at Maussane where an olive-oil tasting session
is a must. We are in the Baux Valley.
-
Before
getting back home, at Fontvieille, you'll catch a glimpse of
the famous "Alphonse Daudet's windmill". Maybe a
few stories will come back to your minds, such as the "Sous-prfet
aux champs..."
